Everything I've seen and read of Destiny makes it look really good. Online/MMO shooters don't really float my boat, but I may have to look at this once I get a PS4.

The reports on the game are getting me quite interested, I'll admit. I just can't see myself playing it on 360 though - I'll just constantly be thinking about how much better the next-gen version looks. :/

A friend of mine actually won a PS4 today. The git.

I managed a couple of hours with it at the weekend, but then had to travel away for work: I really, really enjoyed the time I spent with it, even though I feel like I've hardly scratched the surface. There's definitely no doubt I'll buy it.

Nekotcha - it looks /gorgeous/ on PS4: I was blown away by the design and feel of the levels I've played, and particularly by the retro sci-fi commie aesthetic of Old Russia; hugely atmospheric.

Yeah, I watched some of the comparison videos from the DigitalFoundry PS3/4 face-off. In fairness, it looks to be a pretty good-looking game on PS3, which is to Bungie's credit given their lack of prior Sony experience and that it's a cross-generation title (although on the other hand, you could say that you'd expect nothing less for half a billion dollars)., but there's no doubt that the PS4 version is a heck of a lot nicer looking.

I'm definitely tempted to get a PS4 for it, probably a bit later in the year though.

Ooh finally got in and had a play. I rather like that you don't get to the 'hub' till you've played a bit of a tutorial in the beta. That's very nice for me, as it gives me a good idea of how the single player campaign's going to pan out.

First impressions - it's a very very very pretty game. There were a couple of moments of pop-in but other than that it's buttery smooth and looks really nice.

Combat is great though the gun noises are a bit shit. AI seems fairly accomplished.

Love the character models for the player. Not so impressed with the enemies.

Have yet to get into any vehicles (these were always the main 'draw' for Halo for me so interested to see how Destiny's vehicles fare). So far though it's not too bad - Might not be for me in the end but it's certainly a very nice looking game and impressed me more than Titanfall has.

The Destiny beta is now open to all, on all platforms. Quite tempted to give it a download just to see what all the fuss is about. Do I want to play it first on 360 though or wait till I have a PS4? Ho hum.

I reckon you'll get a good enough impression of it on 360. Admittedly without the visual shinies and smoothness but definitely the gist of the gameplay, which really does feel like Halo given a couple of vitamin shots.

Ah, well, I guess I won't be trying it. Looked for the download tonight and realised it's Gold subscriber-only, and it seems somewhat daft to pay a £40 subscription to play a free demo that will probably only be available for a matter of days! (I realise there's other benefits to the subscription but I never use any of them which is why I let it lapse last year).

Rogue Legacy - released on PSN this week (I know it's been available on PC for ages). Brilliant 2D rogue-like platformer, albeit you're able to pass on your boosted stats/gear to your subsequent characters, meaning that every run gives you the chance to further improve your chances.

I can't say I've progressed very far, but it's lots of fun and well worth a look, if you liked Spelunkey et al.

Started playing The Last Of Us (PS4 Remastered) - and thought I'd dive straight in to "Left Behind" simply because I'd never played the DLC before.

Short and sweet but that's the way you build a backstory, tapping into the Dark Horse Comics for just enough material to flesh out a really tiny but rather touching story. Loved it but was left with the impression that given time, there would've been more episodes perhaps?

Then back to the main game, which I've played through probably too many times on PS3. That did at least give me the luxury of being able to soak up the improved visuals and framerates. It's not perfect but it's very close to how other reviews have described it - like buying an old much-favoured movie on BR even though you know the transfer's not the best ever.

Frame rates dip, there's still a few bizarre texture probs here and there but you miss a lot of that simply because once again you become completely engrossed in the atmosphere of the game itself, and start caring about the character and what happens to them (it still jars whenever Joel or Ellie get munched on by a clicker!)

Thoroughly awesome stuff. Not entirely sure it's worth 40 quid if you already have the PS3 version and have played it to death but definitely worth it if you've never seen the game before, never owned a PS3 and want a very luxurious version of it.

Can understand buying a much loved game a second time - I did with Windwaker for instance. Am quite jealous that I won't get to play that one.

For me - back to Titanfall this weekend. A new patch seems to have fixed some of the tearing, and having put it down for a month or two I was really enjoying the game again. So much so that I was playing until 2am two nights on the spin!

(yawn)

Did my first regen/prestige after unlocking all of the guns. Felt like a proper achievement (I also popped an achievement) and something I'd not normally bother with in a game like this.

Enjoyed it so much that I was even compelled to download the new map packs.

I has a fantastic session on Bioshock Infinite last night - played through the section through the Fink area - factory etc. Some brilliant running battles and great story progression.

While Columbia lacks the impact of Rapture, Infinite is still a quality shooter.

Browsing the 360 arcade titles this evening I happened upon Bastion that I'd been meaning to give a try so downloaded the trial. To be honest I'm a bit unsure having gone through the demo - although it looks nice and I know it was generally reviewed well, it seems a bit button-mashy to me, with the end of the demo basically spamming you with dozens of identical enemies. Has anyone played it here who could give me an opinion on whether it's worth playing or not?

Hah, bravo sir, very nice review! I have to confess I searched the forums for any mention of the game but didn't think to look through the reviews. You may have tempted me back, although I might wait for the next sale as last night I discovered a whole load of old games on my Vita that I'd gotten through PS+ but never downloaded, so I have plenty to be getting on with!

Have to say, that Kojima / Del Toro demo on PS4 has actually given me slim hope that survival horror - or just plain ol' shit your pants horror games might be the 'in thing' this gen if developers get their acts together.

Short but sweet, that demo made me jump about three times and actually made me do a sweary exclaim right at the end as well.

It's got me thinking about where Silent Hill went wrong (after the second and third games, which were bloody fantastic and scary stuff) and where the Resident Evil series went off the rails (as soon as it started to stray into generic shooter territory).

Mightily impressed.

Still hammering Sniper Elite 3 on the 360 - and absolutely loving it. I actually think it eclipses the last one, for me, as stealth and variable routes are much more involving. The first dlc is also an excellent little pay off, in its own right, and I'm really ready for the three-part story dlc now. The achievements have already been added for the first part, so hopefully we don't have to wait too long.

Destiny Beta. You know what, as someone who never got into Halo, I have to say I really enjoyed it. Can see me picking this up... and I'm probably the only person to claim it doesn't feel like Halo at all to me.

Wolfenstein: the New Order. Just fantastic from start to finish. Should have know, given the developer. Hope it gets entry of dlc because I can't see me tiring of it for a while.

Out of interest, those that played the Destiny beta, how did you find it lent itself to play session length? I'm a bit concerned that the online nature of it means that I'll end up committed to lengthy missions when I only really tend to play games in short 15-30 minute bursts these days.

You'd have no problem doing that if you wanted to! Each mission is self contained or you could just tool about in the open world.
