Gran Turismo 6

I definitely have my new favourite driving game of all time. It looks lovely at 1080p and I've had no framerate problems using the chase-cam view. The variable time of day lighting and the rain not only add to the look of the game but also produce some great racing. Car handling is top notch as ever and the ai is competitive without be overly aggressive. Where GT6 really excels though is in the number and quality of the courses on offer. Brands Hatch should be in every driving game period as it is a joy to race around! I think the huge variety of tracks and cars means that this is first GT in which I've never got to the stage where I feel the career mode has become a grind.

A recommended purchase for any driving game fan.

Wow - high praise indeed. So better than the disappointing GT5 then?

Have they added the improved sound effects yet? After 5 I'm a bit tired of cardboard boxes bumping into each other and most cars sounding more or less the same after upgrading some parts.

The engine sounds are better than GT5 but the collision noise and tyre squeals seem just the same as always for a GT title.

It is definitely a far better game than GT5 thanks to the variety of tracks, cars and events on offer. Having races at different times of day and when it is raining also goes a long way to banishing the feeling of repetition that has plagued the career modes of previous Gran Turismo titles.

I'm looking forward to addition of the course creator and the next round of GT Vision concept cars.

Well, I'm not playing it just yet, but I have got TLoU: Left Behind downloading at the moment. o/

A bit of Civ5, a bit of XCOM, that's about it.

After a slow start, I'm now really getting sucked into Jeff Minter's Mind (AKA TxK), although I am still pretty hooked on Surge Deluxe.

Playing through The Last of Us and absolutely loving it, although I am finding it quite intense and stressful :)

Warming to World of Tanks. No Chromehounds, but it's interesting. Sometimes.

And I must be under a rock : new EDF this week and the new Thief is also out for this gen!?

Why no buzz?

Did you see the recent video walkthrough of the first level of Thief? I think it looks great. There's a lot of internet hate about, though - too diluted, wrong voice actor etc. As someone who only played - and adored - Deadly Shadows, I'm not really a Thief purist; based on the clip, the reboot seems to have shaped up well after some worrying elements earlier in development. I'm very much looking forward to it.

EDF RRP is £40!?

Bloody hell. Has the quality ramped up as much as the price?

Tired of having a pile of unfinished games, I've decided to get back to work clearing the backlog. I stopped playing Assassin's Creed 3 mid way through. Having just spent thirty minutes failing to remember the controls, I'm restarting.

Just watched the intro movie again. How did we ever let this bollocks fly as a coherent story? Payday tomorrow, I'm wondering if it's better to just pick up a cheap AC4 and write this off now.

Why can't I walk for more than eight seconds without a fucking cutscene?

Who thought Desmond was interesting? How long before I get past the prologue, to the second prologue?

Is AC4 better?

I have not played the pirate one, but since the pirate bits in AC3 were the best bits that's probably the wisest course of action.

It's a bit expensive, but do go for Left Behind soon after TLoU (if you still like it). It fills a couple of gaps in the story, and does so in a beautiful, affecting way.

@Bremenacht - I think I'll see how I feel once I've finished this and probably another playthrough on NG+

It would be great to get a bit more of Ellie's background...

Currently working my way through Pittsburg (?), pretty intense stuff. I though clickers were bad. Hunters seem worse!

Following my typical behavioral pattern like the hamster of habit that I am, I yet again abandoned one decent game in order to start another. This time, The Swapper. What an excellent little title it is.

Limbo crossed with Braid in space I suppose, but great all the same.

I've gone back to EDF 2017 on Vita (in between playing Surge Deluxe (currently second best clearance in the world), but am really struggling.

I know people rave about it, and it is good fun, but I've hit a wall and just can't seem to progress any further. I'm playing on Normal - but am wondering whether this is one of those games where you start on Easy and unlock better weapons etc to allow you to re-play on the harder levels...?

So, I've ditched EDF (again) and started Rayman Legends this morning.

I'm amazed how much better this is than the excellent Origins. I'm only 4 or so levels in and it's pretty simple (especially after the Vita breaking difficulty of Guacamelee!), but I know it'll get tougher.

Already an easy 9/10 for me and I can only see it getting better!

A couple of hours into Thief and very much enjoying it, even though it's shonky in parts (maybe it's charitable to describe it as technically uneven). It obviously helps that Deadly Shadows was my entry point. I'm definitely missing the mythos they have culled as part of the reboot - pagans, stonecutters etc.

Very tempted by Thief. Disappointment is very seldom... disappointing for me. Trying to find a decent price for Diablo 360. Bugger just won't drop a penny.

Going to pick up AC: Black Flag very soon, but dropped coin on a cheap-ish EDF 2025 this week. Like it a lot - classic EDF, which does make you cry bullshit on the EG review (if 2017 got 9/10, giving this such a low score seems bizarre).

PacMan and the Ghostly Adventures. Horrific by the numbers 3D platformer lacking any merit, charm or gameplay. Makes me want to vomit.

Did a couple more Colossi in you-know-what. Oddly, I got into a lot easier this time around, so maybe having a break from it has been a good thing.

Trying to finish of Mark of the Ninja, which got a little tiresome but now feels fresh and interesting again.

Spent Friday night playing swap the PSU in my PC, only to realise the PSU that the system builder recommended me (to fit a bitfenix prodigy case) would only fit WITHOUT any of the modular cables attached. After the swearing, replaced the old one and rerouted ALL the cables. *sigh*

Tomb Raider.

Really like the semi-open-world map of this. It's similar to Dark Souls in that way. Feels nice to get back to previous areas and be able to unlock/uncover hidden areas with the gear you received since the last time the story took you to a certain place.

It's quite similar to the Uncharted games, which is a good thing in my book. I don't think I would enjoy it has much if the puzzle elements were more emphasized.

The subtitles are implemented really well. Solid black background and different colors for different characters. It's actually readable during the brighter moments of the game.

PS: Those death scenes are gruesome…
