Actually got past the rubbish chute on Sine Mora and finished the game. Really enjoyed it overall, apart from that horrid difficulty spike.

Moved on to Virtua Tennis 4 and really enjoying it. I've never played a VT game before, but I like the arcade-y approach and the need to build your character from the ground up.

It'll definitely keep me going until Killzone: Mercenary arrives.

Looking forward to my freshly purchased Splinter Cell and The Bureau (because nothing says "buy" like mixed reviews...right?).

I must admit I bought SC as much for spies vs. mercs as the single player - I used to love that mode in Double Agent. I'm rarely online at the moment but if anyone fancies it, let us know.

Spies vs. Mercs - an excellent session today even though we got our arses handed to us a fair bit by some people who have ranked up improbably in a short period of time. It can be fantastically nail-biting and exhilarating. Highly recommended.

Payday 2, its very good, planning is required as things go wrong very quickly!
on the downside side, the leveling money you earn is particularly stingy.
Also a bit of the new splinter cell - single players pretty good, haven't played the co-op stuff yet.

Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark

It's aces!

Satisfying learning curve, tight gameplay, no wasted space, infectious music, and slick style (I love how the game berates you when you screw up, too).

Glad you're enjoying it, NY. I paid for it on release and don't begrudge it now being free.

A very well made, and thought through game.

Currently playing Spelunky - enjoying it to a point, but not enough to justify EG's 10/10 review.

Started my final rental from Lovefilm (time to jump to Blockbuster), which is Remember Me on the 360.

It does a lot right; art-style somewhere between Mirror's Edge and Bioshock Infinite; shades of I, Robot; all feels very French actually. Enjoying it, but it feels like it's missing some indefinable element to make you love it. Will finish it.

Should also restart Bioshock Infinite.

Back onto Defiance and checking out the new content. Still some technical issues, but this remains one of my favourites of the year.

500?! I thought I'd put a lot of time into it, and I'm on 128!

And yes, it really is rather good, especially as a handheld game.

Finished Saints Row 4 at the weekend, it was a blast (literally most of the time) lots of fun and highly recommended for anyone wanting a Crackdown substitute with a Saints Row theme.

Also got around to playing Payday 2 last night, after finally getting hold of a cheap copy from Amazon once they restocked. 4 guys pulling heists while trying to do it quietly didn't always go to plan (never if you want to be accurate) but it is pretty damn great when you've got everyone working as a team as I'm sure Espad would agree!

Rayman Legends.

As good as the reviews have been saying. Varied levels, beautiful artwork and amazing audio. Loving this so far, and cheap as chips too. Not sure how the Murphy levels play out on 360/ps3 as they require a touch screen, so your experience may vary.

Looking forward to play some more of it tonight after work; always a good sign.

I've been getting back into Skyrim over the past week after taking a month or so off whilst I forged on with Dark Souls. It's nice coming back to Skyrim though, I miss the heft and complexity of the combat compared with Dark Souls but I love the size of Skyrim and the sheer wealth of stuff to do. I must be up to around 30 hours now and the map still has vast unexplored stretches across it. There's no rush though, eh?

I'm Spelunky-ing too. Probably up to 200 deaths so far, but I did get to 3-2 this morning for the first time (effectively lvl 10 for those who don't know)

Currently having a love/hate relationship with this game - I frustrates me greatly, but I just can't stop playing the damn thing!

Had a go on the Ridge Racer: Driftopia beta over the weekend (think FTP Unboundedededed). While the game is competent enough (Made by Bugbear, just like the last RR), I'm unconvinced that the FTP model will really work here, and it doesn't play like a proper RR game. There's something 'off' about the handling, which I just can't put my finger on...

oh yes, great fun, 4 guys in body armour with zip-bags of gold on their backs lumbering slowly up the street towards the getaway van, whilst trying to fend off armoured police, snipers and security guards!
The AI is largely useless, but with a full crew of real people it really shines.

The last gold heist did at least show why everything is so bloody expensive, do something on higher difficulty and if it all goes to plan you will get so much cash.

I still can't get over getting wicker as a card flip though, wicker?! Who the fuck is going to use that on a mask? Fuck off! :-D

Just polished off Saints Row IV. Not bad all told, bit of a damp squib ending (bloody boss fights, SOD OFF next gen PLEASE) but think I got my money's worth out of it. Time to dive back into the sim and polish off some of those side missions.

So the decks are now clear for that other open world game that's coming in September. You know, THAT one.

Corrupt rental disc for Remember Me, about two hours in... I probably won't in a month. Back it goes.

Restarted Bioshock Infinite and I've just loved the first hour, second time around. I think overloading on Defiance was why it got pushed to one side in the first place.

Will grab Payday 2... come next payday.

3-2 is as far as I've got but I've just unlocked the shortcut to area 3 so hopefully I'll get further. You really need the compass on the ice cave levels, though. I've found myself stranded a couple of times already.

Today is when it happened. It clicked. Today is when Spelunky became a 10/10 for me.

My afternoon session was going OK. Got to the Ice Caves on my first attempt. Actually got to the end of 2-3 with the *you know what* and 5 hearts, but I got greedy and in my attempt to rescue the damsel blew up the tree I was standing on, dropping me onto some spikes :(

But the I got through the Jungle and on to the Ice Caves, and all the way through without losing a life. I reached the temple. In the dark. But I cleared 4-1 and got so close to the end of 4-2. I don't know if the game was rewarding my persistence or I suddenly developed ninja gaming skills, but the Ice Caves weren't too bad and the Temple seems do-able.

The trick with the Ice Caves seems to be getting hold of a compass. Suddenly, there's less risk of getting stuck. I just need to unlock that damned short cut to make my journey easier.

Loving this game.

Anyone tried the Puppet game on PS3?

Blisteringly amazing presentation and graphics but the game is a bit poo (and the demo is colossal! Eeesh!)

As great as Spelunky is, and a good candidate for my GOTY, it's not a 10/10.

Mainly because I've hit a massive wall in the game and finding it really frustrating now as a result. :(

Yup that's the one. As I said, the presentation is absolutely amazing (the game looks and feels like a weird old puppet show, or something that Studio Laika would put together - definitely no bad thing). Demo might not be reflective of the final game but it feels a bit weird, like a really polished bunch of Little Big Planet levels tied together with some of the best art direction and animation in the biz. But lacking a solid game in there.

Anyone tried Outlast yet? (Steam game)

Looks proper shit-your-pants stuff, sort of Silent Hill crossed with Mirror's Edge crossed with needing to find a new pair of scuds. Probably brilliant with an Oculus Rift.

Just finished Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons
Quality game - just the right hints of Ico, Journey and Papo & Yo, but still delivering its own unique, emotional experience.

The gameplay is rarely challenging (I can only think of 2 or 3 difficult sections), but the control method (controlling both characters on a single pad) works brilliantly and gives a massive sense of engagement.

I can't say I'm a fan of the ending, but it doesn't really detract from the rest of an otherwise great game.

Looks stunning too.

Really enjoying Killzone: Mercenary on the Vita. Technically brilliant and while I know a number of reviews have accused it of being quite 'by the numbers', and lacking in any real innovation, for someone who hasn't played a CoD since the original MW or Killzone since the PS2 version, this feels pretty good.

There's also lots of single player content and I haven't yet dipped my toe into MP either...

Just finished Costume Quest DLC (Grubbins on Ice) - short but very sweet. Tough final battle though...

Also splitting my Vita time between Killzone and KickBeat. Totally different games, but both brilliant!

Next up on PS3 is The Walking Dead :D
