Alright, you scruffs. Very exciting news in that the BT router they use to conjure the devil and tickle the demons out of the mad folk out here in the countryside has died... and we're getting a wireless replacement.

Which means I *may* be getting back online with the PS3/360/PSP in about a week. On a tight bandwidth, so it'll probably be a piss-take to sit here gaming online (unless this doesn't eat into too much bandwidth - anyone know?), so need to know what are the essential dlc/games of this year.

Last thing I bought was the GTAIV dlc, which was my last day in civilisation. What do I need, now?

For dlc, presume I have pretty much every major release this year (cough) - but it's the games I'm really ignorant on... Peggle is a shoe in, but what else have you guys been enjoying? Is that Magic card game any good?

Of course, the big news is that the forty odd XBLA games I ALREADY own will actually fucking work again, once my console is back online.

What a minute, BT cap your total MB downloaded/uploaded?

Are they the biggest shower of cunts ever, or is that my imagination?

For this year on the PSN, I'd say Flower.

Yes they do, and yes they are... They're not my choice, but I'm a guest out here, so use the facilities I'm given.

And... Son of a Bitch! There's a Monkey Island game on xbla???!!! God, this is like emerging from a coma!

Was The Last Guy this year, or last?

Most games will go at less than 15 KB/s and run perfectly well. FIFA worked fine for me when I was reduced to dial up speeds and that game is likely to need more bandwidth than most.

What's your monthly limit?

Also, Trine. It's well worth whatever PSN charge especially if you have people that you can play offline co-op with.

Cheers, M.E.

Apparently the family will get a 10gig limit per month, although aren't sure what their speed is. Right now, nothing is working, but I'll run a speedtest when the new gear arrives.

That 10gig is divided up with a business and two ten year olds who are plugged into their laptops like Neo was to the Matrix. Don't know if they'll let me rig up to it... or how much I'll be sapping it if they do.

You'll be fine on that limit if you don't have regular online marathons. I never had a problem when I was on 4 gigs and that was with a decent amount of other downloading.

I reckon Magic the Gathering's a good 'un on XBLA. Been hooked on it for days.

I realise this is probably a silly question but can anyone who has a BT broadband package (limited to 10gig a month, for example) tell me if the account (and thus fresh bandwidth) is refreshed on a certain day of the month, or are such things unique to when you personally sign up?

I'm busting a gut to download Shadow Complex, but if I crib any more of the landlord's bandwidth I'm worried it'll show up. And I'll be murdered in my bed.

I know it isn't XBLA/PSN, but I played Nyxquest: Kindred Spirits on WiiWare a few weeks back and it was superb. Much better than LostWinds, imo. I was planning on writing a review but got sidetracked, in short though it's easily the best of all this year's DLC I've played.

Played Chime for two hours last night. Not sure exactly what was going on... but it's utter bliss.

I was just about to recommend Chime when I saw this thread bumped... lovely little puzzler for just 400 points, and that's before you consider that it (well, most of it) is for a good cause too.

The preview in Edge made this sound amazing, and also specified that it would be multiplatform. I'm absolutely fucking gutted that this is now XBLA exclusive

Plants vs Zombies is a real low point for Popcap. I really don't get it.
