So, who else is getting this?

Only 3.20 on EU PSN, the fact it's cheap, has confused people and comes from the creator of Katamari are all good enough for me to pick this up.

What what WHAT?

For that price it's worth a bit of an impulse purchase I think.

Is it actually out then?

I'll be buying it, unless I wake up tomorrow and you're all hating on it. Actually at 3 quid I might give it a go anyway regardless :)

It's UP guys. Not on the main store page, but if you list all the games, it's in there.

Hmmm.

Katamari Damacy - Pretty approachable, relatively simple central idea, quite bizarre presentation, instant hit (well with me anyway)

Noby Noby Boy - Completely unapproachable, no fucking idea what you're supposed to be doing, bizarre and completely fruitless instructions, bizarre tutorial quiz thing, bizarre gameworld, utterly bizarre presentation - iffy even at 3.19

I need to play it more, just to figure out exactly what the fuck is going on, what I'm supposed to do and what it's all about. Couldn't possibly review it but first impressions are that anyone who loved Katamari a hell of a lot might be prepared to put the work in to figure this one out. Anyone else will probably drop the cash on it, and end up deleting it the same night.

Hmmm. It might click yet, need to play it a lot more though - too much stuff interfering with my playing schedule to devote a lot of time to it but it needs a lot.

Oh absolutely - and it's almost crazy to class it as a game. It's more like some surreal acid trip through a 3D toolset someone created.

I can't quite explain what it's even like. I thought Flower was a relatively "high concept game" but this is in a league of its own.

Absolutely gorgeous (but bonkers) presentation though.

I need to do a bit more exploring as so far though I've been enjoying myself, I'm not sure how much I'll go back to it.

Sounds like you can do some fun stuff when you eat combinations of objects which I need to go and have a fiddle with.

Interesting, but not instantly captivating for me.

I only spent about 20 minutes with this last night (SFIV won out otherwise), but I'm definitely agreed with Peej about the annoyingly obscure instructions and controls. I'm all for esoteric presentation but when it makes the controls and gameplay less readable it needs to be scaled back. Stuff like not being able to read the home menu because it's obscured by clouds is just ridiculous, and easily avoidable.

All that said, the game has a very curiously gleeful air about it - I could help but chuckle to myself whilst playing it and I've barely scratched the surface of what's possible with the controls and physics at work. I also kinda love the GIRL idea - although she's looking way short of the moon at the moment. :(

Aye, the developers reckon it takes about 2 weeks of extended gameplay to get to the moon - but looking at the EG thread a few people seem to think they're going to get there in a day.

Hmm.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's something about this that's inveigling. Not as immediately pick up and playable or approachable as Katamari but has potential. Really not happy that it's so bloody obscure with info in the "manual" though - and once you're done with the tutorial quiz you're just not told what the hell you're supposed to even do!

It also seems to follow the Katamari game mechanic of objects being unattainable (eaten in this case, rolled into in the case of Katamari) until you've absorbed enough of the smaller ones.

I think we've not seen everything this game has to offer yet... We'll know more once we get to the moon.

Aye. Worst week for it to arrive though... :(

I will have to give it a bit more love later on after I've had my arsed royally kicked to bits by SF4 a bit more.

I loves it. Eating your own arse to grow your legs whilst being ridden by mouse policemen never gets old :-D

It's also a nice way to get away from all the SFIV talk.

I only had a chance to spent a bit of time on it last night but it really is captivating. Anyone noticed you can eat & then shit out the letters and pictures in the 'manual'? Totally pointless, totally ace :)

Hehe cool. I did wonder that at the time, but wanted to get back to the game.

When I checked this morning, 50,000,000m had been clocked up. That's 50,000km, and that's in less than 24 hours since the Japanese launch. I reckon these planets will fall quicker than has been suggested ;-)

I really have no idea what's going on in this but I managed to play it for 45 minutes without realising, yesterday.

I also snapped my Noby Noby Boy in two and had crawl back to the house to rejoin them.

See above - you can eat your arse and it'll join back up after getting shat back out of your disconnected end
