A common feature of me buying practically anything electrical is that as soon as I buy them the price inevitably drops, this has happened with surround speaker systems, printers, monitors, hard drives, virtually anything slightly pricey. For a change the reverse has happened!

I bought an Xbox Arcade on Sunday, as I couldn't be arsed to wait for the return of my dead one, from GAME with VP/Forza2 and an extra controller for 199.99. Chucked my 120 gig drive on and was happy.

Today the same pack is 209.99, so I got it before the price went UP for a change.

Only downside is my repaired one turned up yesterday and I was out on Monday so I only had one evenings worth of play before I'd have had one anyway. Hmm...

Well it's 140 quid if I trade a two year old Premium at least, not too shabby all things considered. However if I had known it was due back that soon I'd not have bothered, damned annoying my console has never appeared on Xbox.com so I couldn't check the repair status.

You can guarantee though that if you'd held back it would have taken MS 6 weeks to repair your 360. I still find it astonishing that it's cost effective to replace a mobo and dvd drive instead of just swapping over the console.

It looks like I've not got a Falcon as I've got a 203W rated PSU but it does seem a bit quieter in operation (possibly down to the newer heatsinks) and it has the faster/quieter BenQ DVD drive as well.

Not got an HD telly to plug into the HDMI port at the moment (I'm VGAing on a 22" monitor) but I'll almost certainly be able to put that to use when the Boxing Day sales happen, it's time for a wall mounted 32" telly. :-)

Oh aye, me too. It's time to join the HD train. I'm having to wear glasses to read the subtitles on Mass Effect !

So do we think there will be decent telly sales post-Christmas? I'm also VGAing on a monitor and thinking of looking for a 32" to put on the wall.

Been spoilt while staying at my old flatmate's place on my trip, what with the boys lovely 46" Sony making me drool in envy. I'm buying CoD4 when I get home just for the MP but I'm already worried about how hard it is going to be spotting the three pixels of some sod poking over a wall on the other side of a map on a 30" CRT.

I need a car but I'm currently trying to convince myself that blowing a grand or so on an HDTV will give me enough cause to not want to go out anywhere and spend money on less permanent products. Another 500 bucks on a sound system and HD-DVD drive and an upgrade to my Netflix sub and I could turn into a hardcore gaming and movie geek.

The wise part of my brain says "wise up min!" but that's what the funner part of my brain is saying in response as well ;D

I think I'm going to have to get that credit card which offers zero % on balance transfers for 18 months and hope that a better paying job shows up in that time.

Either that or peeps will have to put up with me whining about my shiteness in CoD being down to me telly.
