Surely Wii demand's not still *that* strong?

Spotted these prices whilst I was in there at lunchtime. It's insane.

That's bonkers. I wonder who is buying them? I don't know anyone else who has one.

It's ridiculous again. Same old christmas demand thing going on, coupled with the anticipation that Mario Galaxy might do the numbers.

Once I'm done with SMG that'll be mine boxed up and cynically sold on then :)

They *are* buying them, that's the worst thing. The stock number for "available online" is actually decreasing throughout the day

1 year on the whole Wii thing still baffles me!

If I do see one in stock though I'm sure as hell buying one to sell on.

I'm so tempted to pick up a US one before I head back to the UK.

Pretty easy to pick up for a couple of hundred here.

I paid a rather hefty £210 for my Wii from CEX early this year (I had vouchers to use, so it wasn't complete insanity). But that means I can currently sell it back to them for more cash than which I originally paid. Madness!

I enjoy Tiger Woods on it too much to cash in though. :(

I remember I used to like CEX when they still did imports, despite the fact that they would fuck you over on prices of new games as a lot of people did before it became so easy to import games yourself.

Seems they've still got the shafty prices, even without the imports. :/

Hear hear - With the opening scenes I thought my drink must've been spiked last year but once the game-proper kicks in it really is purty and does make you wonder why a lot more Wii games haven't looked as good.

I've been trying to find one for my neice's christmas pressie. Even 'proper' shops are taking the mickey:

Comet had some, but you had to buy a bundle of 5 games for £370.

Overclockers had some for £299

Luckilly I've found one at retail price.

I love how colourful it is! Much more so than previous Mario's, I feel.

To be honest it wasn't even the graphical side that put me off to begin with. The story needed to get itself out of the way, I needed to get the hang of planet wandering and the game seems to have lost the M64 freedom where you could collect stars in any order you fancy.

But now the story's sunk to the background, the controls are pretty much there and the prankster comet has just arrived to improve the game by a factor of *addamusingnumberhere*.

I'm begining to believe it's all some massive con by Nintendo, who are buying all these damn things themselves as part of some stock shenanigans. It's madness!

It's funny now that Mario and Metroid are here how quickly I've forgotten the last year of my Wii gathering dust, it feels like Wii Sports and Zelda were just yesterday, and my Wii is my most indispensable console by far. :)

Similarly I wasn't concerned about not playing my Wii for ages - and now that I can't I'm bloody annoyed about it!

Covered the shortages on the national news yesterday. Apparently Germany's where it's at if you want one.

I'd love to pick on up for my daughter. The 360's many buttons, triggers and sticks are confusing for a nearly 4 year old. Annoyingly she's picked up the accelrate/brake stuff OK, but she keeps turning the joypad like a wheel, so a Wii seems a really logical console for her at the moment.

morriss says they're available in Denmark, too, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's just the UK that is being screwed.
