If you want to see RDJ in a great flick, watch Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. Cracking movie.

Also, he's fantastic in Tropic Thunder. Even when that film isn't.

KKBB was ace, although cut a bit short and thus a touch confusing towards the end.

I'm still impressed that if you hadn't been told who was the Joker, there's no way you would guess it was him at all (ignoring appearance changes). The quality of the performance is in a different league to any of his other roles.

RDJ was his usual likable and watchable self. He certainly made the film more interesting than most actors would have managed.

Deja Vu - 70%

Felt like I'd seen it all before.

No, I mean, utterly preposterous but it has a very able bunch of people holding it together. Denzil, Kilmer, Caviezel and Tony Scott... yeah, I could sit through it again, I reckon.

Deja Vu is quite enjoyable fluff, like most of Tony Scott's films.

The Dark Knight on blu ray. It's still excellent and a couple of scenes really get to me for some reason. The music is excellent too, especially the 'main' theme that is buried in a couple of scenes.

Hellboy 2 - it's as beautiful as you expect a Del Toro film to be (in his weird way), the plot and performances are both good and the creature work blows anything George Lucas has ever tried to do out of the water in it's believability i.e. they don't look like badly voice synched puppets and have great designs behind them.

I'm a bit bored of Del Toro doing the clockwork thing and a couple of the creature designs have been extremely similar across a few of his films now. He needs to do something completely different next.

Mamma Mia last night. Not as bad as I'd thought it would be, but it was cut way too short and the weirdest thing of all is that the lighting really annoyed me :-/

I have The Dark Knight for tonight. Given how Begins turned out I have pretty low expectations for this. It'll be nice to get surprised :-)

Same for me for Mamma Mia. Some strange casting choices as well (Firth is too young, Brosnan can't sing, but Julie Walters was fantastic).

Also, I fell in love with the girl during the beach scene.

'Lay all your love on me'.

Cheers love, thanks for the offer, although I have to admit that my aiming might be a bit rusty.

Watched Death Race again. I swear that the whole project was designed to be the film version of some ill fated game. If you can stand to watch a film that looks like you're looking over a gamer's shoulder then it might be worth it. Statham's done far better stuff though.

Wasn't Carmageddon designed as a game version of Death Race 2000 in the first place? Didn't it come in a special edition version with a VHS of that film?

Well, I say special edition. It was just both boxes in a brown paper bag as I recall.

There was a long legal wrangle over Carmageddon: The Death Race 2000 - but afaik the original Carmageddon was supposed to be very loosely based on but not linked with Death Race 2000.

I mean the modern remake's so game-oriented you even have powerups in the road that activate the car's weapons and defensive capabilities!

I made the mistake of watching part of Transporter 2. Fecking hell Statham really does make some terrible films, doesn't he?

Didn't end up watching Dark Knight. Trying to catch up with telly so saw House, Survivors and Outnumbered. Will watch TDK sometime this week though

I heard Scotch is much better, although Silver Shadow and Memorex were stunning for their time.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall - now that is how you make a romantic comedy. Genuinely funny at times, and sweet without being overly sentimental or cliched. Great cast (including Russell Brand), ending might have been slightly predictable but I can forgive it that. I didn't expect much, but this was certainly better than any of the big blockbusters I've seen this year. Probably 8/10 for me.

The Transporter films are purely designed to be bubblegum for the eyeballs though, I mean they're trashy but they're all about the stunts. FWIW if you thought Transporter 1 and 2 weren't a lot of cop, never watch the remade version of Taxi with Queen Latifah in it!

What complete pile of shit... With the exceptions of the thiefs who where hot as hell on the remake!

Twilight with my gf, she loved the movie, for me it was an tipical Romance... Not to bad, at least the casting seemed right and no over the top vampires luckly... 6/10 from me and an 8.5/10 from the gf

The BR of The Dark Knight turned up today. Blimey that's eye-poppingly good quality. And High Def extras! Hopefully that'll become the norm rather than the exception.

With the way things are going I can see me trying to cajole the missus into getting a dedicated BR player for downstairs at this rate.

Batman: Dark Knight 6/10

Just left me quite underwhelmed. I thought Ledger did a great job as Joker (although I probably just about preferred Nicholson, close call though and totally different Joker's) but I personally thought the pace of the film was poor, that not really an awful lot happened and that the fight scenes weren't as impressive as the first film.

It was acceptable viewing, but nothing more. I'm in the minority I know.

No, I'd agree with that - though 6 is probably harsh. The hype led me to expect a superhero movie to end all superhero movies, but it was merely 'good', and certainly overlong by at least half an hour.

I'm still buying the DVD though. :)

I'll back up KM on this - the pacing's all screwed up for some reason. Hell, I even prefer the boring first half of Begins to this.

It's definitely not a great film. Bale looks bored to tears (and as a result, all the best bits of the film are the bits without Batman in them).

Ledger's a fucking sad loss though. Just gets a chance to cut his acting teeth on a nice scenery-chewing role then takes a terminal dive. Pity.

Total waste of two-face too. Great digi-makeup and stuff, but about the worst use of a Bat-villain in a film since Batman & Robin turned Mr Freeze into some sort of camp icy terminator.

I didn't mind them doing a proper build-up for the Two-Face character, but they should have left Two-Face himself for the next movie. It would have made for a better climax and a nice cliffhanger... as it is, the last half-hour of TDK was a bit of a mess imo.
