I thought the first half was majorly lacking in the laughs and was just getting by on Smith's usual dollop of crude, but the second half was incredibly good.

The Number 23 - proof that it's possible for a film to jump the shark at the concept stage. That said, 6/10.

The Blues Brothers for the first time ever.

9/10

The final set needed to be longer with another song of the quality of "Somebody" to get 10/10.

What's happened to Dan Akroyd anyway? He seems to have vanished despite his obvious talent.

I don't usually do schmaltz, but I thought the end was perfect.

Last thing I saw him in was the frankly marvelous Grosse Pointe Blank. IMDB says he's done almost 30 other projects since then o_O

Hot Fuzz. Good, funny, but not as good as SotD. The plot was a little thin, everything just seemed a little tacked on. Still well worth owning though.

I've just watch black hawk down and T2 on blu-ray. Both are worthing picking up in HD if you like the movies.

I also watch Napolean Dynomite yesterday, there's an hour and a half of my life I'll never get back. I was completely dire.

A mate's copy of The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai

A Bit Crap, even considering it's an 80s cheesy sci-fi and has Jeff Goldblum, Christopher Lloyd, John Lithgow, Clancy Brown and Peter Weller.

Ichi the Killer (Animated film)

It's pretty weird but not great...5/10. It's just too short to take the story far enough along to make it interesting.

TMNT- cracking :D Surprisingly well animated (cgi'd) and it nipped along at a cracking pace. Finale was a bit of a let down but even so.

Employee of the Month- no brainer but passed the time in an enjoyable fashion. Funniest parts involved Jessica Simpsons inability to act. She has two facial expression, smiling and gormless.

Good job she's easy on the eye because she doesn't seem to have any other talents. SFW talents, anyway.

Relic.

Oh dear, what a pile of crap.

Er, 2/10 - only because it featured that neato museum in Chicago I visited.

Mean Machine - Absolute tripe. Don't bother. Casting Vinny Jones in a lead role was a mental move.

Alpha Dog - Not a bad film at all really, worth a watch, and not ruined by the Timberlake factor as I initially expected. (7/10).

I remember this as being the first Saturday Night Premiere film I watched after we got Sky Movies. I don't remember it for anything that happened in the film, so you're probably spot on with your appraisal.

The Bourne Ultimatum. 8/10. Ties the trilogy up nicely... but maybe not quite as good as the first two.

Transformers. 8/10. All I ask of a Michael Bay film is the guy breaks stuff... and he does. So good it manages to eclipse the "silliness" of the premise, and the special effects are fantastic.

Primer. Can't give a score yet, as I didn't quite understand it enough. Really compelling, and well worth a look... but what happens? Got to watch it again.

Watched two films this week.

The Condemned - This seemed like half a remake of running man but also a satire on reality TV featuring rather bizarrely Vinnie Jones and Stone Cold Steve Austin. I actually enjoyed it too. Complete bollocks but fun bollocks.

Quentin Tarantino's Deathproof - Absolutely brilliant film. Which is an odd thing to say as for 3/4 of it I only thought it was OK. It's an unusual film as it's been filmed to look like it's from the 70s including dodgy jump cuts, projector noise and fantastic retro title sequences. It's quite slow to get going but that's because Tarantino really fleshes the characters out. It's split into two halves which almost feel like two seperate films but it's really fucking good and the ending was awesome.

I loved Deathproof too, even the missus did, which i didn't expect at all.

I watched This is England last night, i thought it was excellent, with some amazing performances. The kid in it was just incredible!

Hellboy: Blood & Iron (animated, with the voice actors from the film). I thought it was good, with a cool vampire, and the animation style is very much like the comic books. 7/10

The Invincible Ironman, also animated. A bit dull compared to Hellboy; Ironman is a shite superhero in my book 4/10.

Watch it another couple of times and it starts to make more sense. However... working the entire thing out requires you to be Hawking like in intelligence, so i'd recommend you do what I did. Give up and read the oldwiki entry. (Its had a bunch of stuff removed for some reason)

Them. 4/10. Majorly disappointing. Looks electric from the trailers, but turns out to be a suspense film that lacks any suspense. Probably not the film's fault that it's "based on true events", but this of course means the ending is pish.
