Tell me about it. Hilarious mess, and once again a great example of the wrong people being given the rights to a game that (by rights) should've been a piss-easy conversion to moviedom

The Dark Knight Rises.

Lots of elements taken from the comics, which I suppose is a good thing but somehow more than a bit flat. I thought the 2nd film was a bit long, the first lacked an A list baddy but on reflection they were both better than this. Perhaps the BD mix has sorted the problem but I didn't find Bane incomprehensible.

Wayne recovering from his broken back and protruding vertebrae in a remote prison was pretty incomprehensible though.

Brave

Lordy, Pixar stuff looks incredible doesn't it? Actually enjoyed this more than a lot of their merchandise lead films. It doesn't outstay it's welcome and the bear is extremely well done.

Attack the Block.

Now I know this film probably isn't aimed at me due to my age (42) but what a shit film.

Utterly hateful characters. I thought in films, characters you initially don't like, by the end of the film you should end up liking.

They were all, except for the girl and nick frost utterly devoid of anything likeable at all.

I wanted them all to be ripped to shreds. Hoody muggers don't deserve anything less. The complete twats.

I am a big fan of Joe Cornish but what a terrible debut.

Awful, awful film. Possibly my most hated film ever.

Phew! It's not just me then. I thought it was appalling too. As I said a few posts back, it's pretty obvious who had all the talent in Adam and Joe. Wasn't Joe :)

You oldsters. I watched it on the iPad while on holiday in Egypt and even that wasn't enough to ruin it for me. Quite enjoyed it, though I did feel at odds supposedly rooting for a lead character that mugs someone at the start of the film.

I am also 42.

I thought Attack the Block was great, nice bit of a Carpenter style film in a shitty part of London with "heroes" who were anything but.

Agree with Ace and Peej - attack the block is full of characters I would lose no sleep over being attacked in a block. Not funny, no emotion attached to any of the characters, no real story.

Hated it.

Poor John Carpenter, having his awesome stuff compared to that dog's brekkie!

The only thing I did like about it was the monsters themselves. Nice bit of low end cheapo effects work but quite...well...effective.

Thought it was poorly written and plotted (probably because of the processed used to actually write the dialogue scenes and flesh the plot out). Slightly worried that people are seriously considering letting Joe Cornish anywhere near Snow Crash because I fecking love that book.

Well if you can't see any similarities between AtB and AoPT then I suggest a visit to SpecSavers.

Actually let's hear from Joe himself...

Yup I saw all his spiel before the film when it was shown on Film 4. Merely stating that low-fi horror and John Carpenter are huge influences on your work does not make your work fit to lick the boots of someone who's been in the business for donkey's years and has put out some brilliant movies.

Next you'll be telling us Mary Poppins is like Emmanuelle because they both had tits.

As I said, SPECSAVERS.

Attack the Block is brilliant!

Funny, well acted and the monsters are cracking. It's up there with my favourite horror comedies like American Werewolf and Evil Dead 2.

Didn't say there weren't similarities, I said you can't compare the quality of Assault on Precinct 13 with the appalling quality of ATB.

Each to their own though, I bet you hated Gattaca, right?

No Country for Old Men.

Working my way through Total Films best 50 of their lifetime. Pretty good film, I can see why the baddie got the role in Skyfall :)

Commando on blu ray.

I haven't see this film for years but what an absolute joy it was to see again.

Especially the homo erotic bullshit! :-)

Benett still makes me laugh. He looks like Freddie Mercury in a chain mail vest.

I never realised before that Commando and Predator are two of the most homoerotic movies ever made. Never occurred to me at the time they came out.

Oddly though, despite really liking fannies, I always end up watching the bloody things if they're repeated on ITV4 (which at the moment seems to be about 3 times a week!)
