Ah right. I have a soft spot for the original 3 movies (third dragged on a bit though). The first was the best by far though, so good choice.

I might go see that. It does actually look fairly good from the trailers.

The Mechanic

A modern silent film. Hardly any dialogue, but lots of explosions and shooting. Mostly just for the sake of having explosions.
Silly entertainment. Nothing more, nothing less.

The Social Network - 8/10. The writing, score and camerawork are stunning, but the "likeability" of the film is only saved by the earnest performance of Andrew Garfield. Between that fact (that it is a film about a bunch of cunts), and the streak of irony stemming from the comparison between Zuckerberg's actions as portrayed in the movie and the somewhat contentious nature of Ben Mezrich's book on which in the picture is based, I will admit I am finding it hard to be entirely subjective in my views on it.

Transformers 3

Really fun movie (completly popcorn) and a return to shape after the shit TF2 was! And even better this time you could almost see the fights!

Blessed 3D didn't allow Bay used so much of his trade marked editing!

And the first 10 minutes are pure scifi/conspiracy theory heaven!

8/10

Red

Really fun comedy/spy film using some "older" actors. Higly recommend!

8/10

MacGrubbert

Some really fun moment and gags with lots of filling that just didn't quite get to where it should have... A bit of desillusion... :(

I thought Jonah Hex was arse. Not even Megan Fox could save it. Looked great from the trailers too.

Yup, twice in the cinema and twice on Blu-ray. ^^; Amazing film imo, far more impressive than 1.11 (which I still liked).

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Grim but utterly compelling, featuring characters I really invested in (and I haven't read the book). Thoroughly enjoyable tale - even if a couple of twists and turns were obvious.

The Girl Who Played With Fire. Fucking rubbish. A confused mess, a shite story and some terrible plot arcs/contrivances. Seems like they had these great characters and had no idea what to do with them next. Terribly dull story - with no real resolution. Is the third one a saving grace, because this put me off ever picking the books up.

(500) Days of Summer

I'm not really a fan of love stories, which this was (despite the film itself claiming otherwise), albeit one told only from the man's point of view. Even though it's low on cheese and schmaltz, I still found it rather cliched at times. But I enjoyed it - the leads had great chemistry, it never dragged, and was mixed up nicely with some clever scenes. I wouldn't have minded more of it, in fact, and there are very few films I can say that about. As far as rom-coms go you can't get much better than this.

The King's Speech
Good for the acting, but the plot was fairly standard "guy trains to do something" stuff. Dunno why it won awards.

Disney's Tangled
Best Disney animated film for a long time. Feels fresh and modern without resorting to Dreamworks-style pop-culture references. The villain is one of the best Disney villains I've seen for the sheer complexity of her character. Rapunzel's hair is a marvel of animation.

The Adjustment Bureau
Bad, bad film. Contrived plot, defies plausibility, hard to care about anyone.

Exit Through the Gift Shop
Fairly dull, I thought. I like the twist but it's not amazing.

Star Trek
I don't watch Star Trek but I thought this was a really good film. Excellent action sequences and the relationship between Kirk and Spock carries the film.

Win Win
Standard kid-from-tough-background-makes-good-through-sports film, except less sickly sweet. I enjoyed it and there are some good twists to the formula.

The Blind Side
Slightly uncomfortable white(race) knight film, where a wealthy white family open their doors to a poor black kid and improve his life while he improves theirs. However a twist towards the end shows that the film is self-aware of this and turns the white-guilt aspect on its head. Worth it for Sandra Bullock's performance.

2012
What a waste of a film budget. Never has the end of the world looked so good and yet been utterly uninteresting. Unwatchable (indeed I stopped out of boredom).

My daughter loves this to pieces. She actually cried when we took her to the hairdresser's the other day because she imagined that if we never cut her hair she'd be able to lasso stuff with it like Rapunzel.

The last line feels like trolling, but is of course plausible, the comment about "the plot" seems to be willfully ignorant, though.

I don't even understand what point you're trying to make. You realize they didn't exactly invent the story that the film tells, yes?

All I'm saying is that it was a fairly formula "guy trains to do something and then succeeds at that thing" movie. The fact that the film is based on true events doesn't excuse this, it just explains it.

Like I say, the acting was good. As was the cinematography. And I'd recommend people see it. But imo it was fairly formula and straightforward. Good, not great.

Wow! Utterly bonkers, but fantastic with it! It strays much further from the original series than the first film, but that's not necessarily a bad thing (although Asuka is introduced rather too hastily for my liking). Loved the battle when all three EVAs fight the eighth (?) angel, and the final 'berzerk' rescue; the animation of the mechs themselves is just stunning; hyper-kinetic I think I've heard it called.

Anyway, I still wouldn't necessarily recommend Evangelion, series or films, to anyone; they're very much an acquired taste.

"Mmmn; you smell nice. Like LCL..."

Yeah, totally agree. If someone says "I want to watch Eva" I will support that decision 100% and want to know what they about it, but it's not something I would actively push onto people.

Almost beats Pirates of the Caribbean 2 to the worst film I ever watched.

Beginners.

As in "written by one". Even the gorgeous Melanie Laurent couldn't help the five people in the audience get excited about it. It was the girlfriend's choice and it bored the piss out of her.

Monsters. Bit dull. Again, lovely female lead. Couldn't not think of the rather fab The Mist whenever the monster showed itself.

Well, I would watch it... if the cunting retards at the store had taken the fucking security tag off! Same shower of cunts who sold me a PS3 game in a 360 shop.

And they're a forty minute drive away!

It's nothing like the trailers, but it is very good.

I watched Super last night, it was quite brilliant, Sharon didn't like it so much though.
