Inception. It's okay, not sure why so many people were going on about it. It's pretty straight forward and really not as complex as some people made it sound. I probably would have thought that is was better if I hadn't expected a complex story.
Have to say though, DiCaprio is one of my favourite actors.

Completely agree with this - it's a cleverly told story but it isn't that difficult to follow what's going on.

For some reason I've never seen this before but it's great; there's a bit less action than I was expecting but the strong performances make the film.

Gary Oldman is incredible in it.

Iron Man 2

Fun popcorn movie, but bery poor compared with the first one... Loved Scarlet Johasson and Samuel L Jackson characthers...

The only part that is best than the first one is the final battle agaisnt the other suits... Just hated that the "final final" battle being so short against Vako... :(

An easy 7/10 for me...

I thought the clarity of Inception was part of how how well made and cohesive it was. It's easy to make something where no-one knows what's going on (say, eXistenZ), and the basic idea could have been a train wreck in the wrong hands.

Dear Hollywood,
please stop employing Michael Cera, he is rubbish.
Yours in hope,
Whizzo

(I watched Youth In Revolt yesterday, it was pretty average but the aforementioned actor was playing himself again, I'm not sure the bloke can actually act).

He most certainly is.

The first one is good; the 2nd and 3rd? Not so much.

A-Team 3/10

Incoherent and pointless plot, poor and plodding action, set pieces that were just things blowing up (I've seen that a thousand times, most were better), poor script, poor acting by all except Sharlto Copley how was okay but not great. Liam Neeson couldn't decide whether he was Irish or American and the stupid catchphrases were used too much and not very well.

Highlight was John Hamm appearing for about 10 seconds.

The Killer Inside me 6/10

Casey Affleck is good (although he doesn't seem to have much of an acting range across his films) and his flashes of 'evil' are very convincing. Rest of the cast is okay and the overall story is decent, if a little shallow.

It does seem to imply that women are quite happy being beaten by someone they love (or they love them because they beat them). Probably not an ideal date movie.

One of the few films where I wanted a perfect happy ending.

Toy Story 3. Twice. In quick succession...

Once on my own and I blubbed like a little baby at the end.

Second time, I still flipping blubbed. Was up most of the weekend with my poor little girl honking her guts up so Toy Story 3 was quite a nice distraction for her in between bouts of painting the floors an interesting new shade of orange. Bleeh.

I expected it to be a bit of a lame 2nd sequel but it was great though I'm less convinced Cars 2 is going to be any good (The cars, as international secret agents...er, OK yeah I can see that working...)

Basically if Pixar can make that work they can do no wrong.

Oh and Totoro being in TS3 = WIN!

9/10 (for Toy Story 3)

The last three Harry Potter films up to The Half-blood Prince. All good entertainment, but nothing remarkable.
Would have preferred Morgan Freeman in the role of Dumbledore. ^.^

Can't believe Hermine and Ron are still not together. Slowest love story ever. Surely they get together in the last book.

Both my wife and I squealed in delight when we saw Totoro in Toy Story 3; I don't think anyone else in the cinema had a clue why...

I need to watch Toy Story 3. I also need to watch Up and Wall-E... I know, I know. Hopefully the latter will be on BBC or something over Christmas.

Wall-E is on over christmas, as it happens.

The BBC seem to have got a fairly respectable line-up of films this year.

Oh and they're showing Indiana Jones 4 which will probably annoy the hell out of me all over again.

Yeah, I had a feeling it would be coming on since it's been out for a few years now. The BBC are always good at putting stuff like that on Christmas Day (last year they had The Incredibles).

I'll probably watch Indy 4 again, too... it's pretty abysmal, but there were some good scenes iirc and, well, it's Indy!

I might just PVR it and skip through all the bits with Shia LeBoef in.

Can't remember what else was trailered. Shrek 2 or possibly 3. Cars. Definitely Wall-E

Plus the obligatory Dr. Who and Eastenders episodes. :)

Funny, I usually don't care much for TV throughout the year, but on Christmas Day I feel like I have to watch everything that's on!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 - by this stage, I don't think these movies need much reviewing. I enjoyed it, but if you don't think you will, then you probably won't.

Despicable Me

Very well done animation, but all the characters and the story feels a bit soulless. Needs more funnies.

Happy-go-lucky

It's supposed to be a very good film, but I didn't like it very much, except for the scene with the homeless guy.

Unstoppable

I've always loved Tony Scott's generic action films - it's hard to think of many people that do the mindless and flimsy plotted film better.

Script and plot is nothing special (it's a train that they need to stop) and there's absolutely nothing new here but it's stil extremely watchable and an entertaining hour and a half. Denzil and Captain Kirk are both pretty solid.

Compared to the A-Team it's brilliant, compared to other good action films it isn't bad.

RED a action-comedy with Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and Helen Mirren. Nothing special, but very entertaining. Some hilarious action scenes. :)

Very slick, well shot, and gripping throughout. Plus Cillian Murphy is pretty, as always. Sigh.

I thought it was very bleak and overlong. Not convinced Deathly Hallows really needed to be two films; a little more effort with the editing pen and I reckon a single (albeit, rather lengthy) film could have been made to work.

Also, despite having read the book, I still found myself wondering what the hell was going on for a lot of the time...

Yeah, bit silly really. Didn't like the main actor (forgot his name) and never liked Transformers anyway. The comedy accent of the obligatory good looking female computer expert was hilarious though. :)

I'd never seen it all the way through before. It was pretty appalling. I think the only bit I liked was the firefight against the scorpion thing in the desert (then only because it ended with A10s flying in!)

I caught a few minutes of the firefight before on TV and that seemed ridiculous enough to make the film worth watching. Shame the rest of the movie turned out to be not nearly as entertaining.

Nope - was it just me or were the Transformers really rubbish. Awkward, geeky and a bit crap in a fight against Megatron?

Also, Bumblebee shouldn't really have been any other car than a VW Beetle, likewise Jazz should've been a Porsche not a flippin' Pontiac.
