The Commodore 64. A copy of Green Beret. A wet saturday. A bag of pineapple and kola cubes. That was pretty much all I needed when I was a knee-biting nipper. The sublime commodore version of the Konami arcade classic was absolutely spot on, and as hard as nails.

Konami's having a bit of a retro revival thang at the moment, bringing back Rocket Knight Adventures very soon, but also bringing back Rush 'n' Attack (or Green Beret as it was known in these more commie-friendly waters). Simple 2D scrolling stuff seems to have been replaced by extremely busy and detailed looking sideways scrolling stuff, in the same mould as the superb Bionic Commando Rearmed and recent smasher Shadow Complex.

As you can see from the screenshots below, it all looks very dark and moody. Whether it's as hard as the original remains to be seen but we're hard for it, if you get what I mean.

If anyone still has that opening tune and siren going through their heads all these years later, they'll be hard for it too.

Meh. There's better IP out there to give a modern day make-over.

I love it. It's the rally game I've been waiting for since Rallisport Challenge 2 (and it's a lot more technical / satisfying than that!) ...
