Make no bones about Apple's stance on slightly iffy content...

...baby shaking and tentacle rape simulators aside, they really don't like naughty words and extreme violence appearing in iPhone / iPod Touch titles. So it's no surprise that Car Jack Streets has taken so long to worm its way through the approval process (see, if only they'd included a baby shaking minigame or two in there...it would've got through in a matter of hours).

Unashamedly adult in content, Car Jack Streets owes more than a nod to the very first Grand Theft Auto game, from back when the Playstation and Pentiums were cool.

Car Jack Streets tells the tale of one Randall Meyers. Heavily in the can to the mob for a substantial amount of dough, Randall is told that he needs to earn $50,000 a week or end up with his kneecaps in a sling. Fifty big ones is no mean sum to try and earn in Jack City so Randall must mooch around the vast explorable sandbox of a city to find opportunities to earn that cash by fair means or foul (and here's an early hint, he's not nearly pretty enough to go on the game).

Gameplay is very tight and nicely designed. As with the top down GTAs you get a nice zoom in / zoom out camera as you bowl around Jack City in whatever ride you've ripped off. Needless to say there's plenty of gunplay, uber violence against innocent (and not so innocent) citizens and a nice variety in missions to keep you on your toes.

What's more astounding is that the price won't put you in a concrete overcoat either. £2.99 is very reasonable indeed for something with this amount of depth and promise. Having only brushed the surface of the game, it's already shaping up to become one of the most talked about and essential purchases for your favourite touchable.
