Funny how a game defined by constant death can make you feel so very alive.
Popzeus about Super Meat Boy
When Sony first announced its own Xbox Live-like initiative in the form of PlayStation Plus, gamers were quick to jump on its back for the shameless cashing-in of what was once heralded as the single best reason to own a PlayStation 3 - a genuinely free online service. But in recent months, chiefly thanks to free downloads of some excellent games - Little Big Planet, Infamous 2, Warhammer 40k Space Marine and Deux Ex: Human Revolution among them - the tide has turned and the naysayers have had to eat their words.
Well Sony announced today that as of August 7th, PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to download, gratis, the first two episodes in Telltale Games' excellent The Walking Dead series.
Now I'm sure the cynics among you will say "Big deal, they only cost £4.99 each.", but you're missing the point. The Walking Dead is very much current and extremely popular. It's not a token gesture released towards the end of its lifecycle having already sold that vast majority of its units. This is Sony, for a change, being pro-active, being on its game and delivering a genuinely attractive deal for its subscribers.
And it's not often I've been able to say that about Sony in recent months.
